Elements of Graphic Design Basics


1.Garis (Line)
A line is a design element that connects the point to point one point to another point that could draw a curved shape (curve) or straight (straight). The line is a basic element for building design or construction forms. In the duni a visual communications often we use the dotted line, solid line, and the dotted line.

2. Shape (Shape)
Form is everything that has a diameter of height and width. The basic form known to man is a box (rectangle), circle (circle), and triangle (triangle). In visual communication design betuk we will learn the basic and derived forms. While the category of nature, the shape can be categorized into three, namely:

(1) Letter (Character): represented in a visual form that can be used to establish writing as a representative of the verbal language with direct visual forms, such as A, B, C, etc..

(2) Symbol (Symbol): represented in a visual form that represents the shape of objects in a simple and understandable to the public as a symbol or emblem to describe a form of real objects, such as images of people, stars, the sun in the form of simple (symbol), not in tangible form (with details).

Real Form (Form)
: This form truly reflects the physical condition of an object. Such a detailed picture of human, animal or other object.

3. Texture
Texture is the surface appearance (style) of an object that can be assessed in a way be seen or touched. That in practice, the texture is often categorized as a pattern of an object surface, such as carpet surfaces, clothing, bark, paint the walls, paint canvas, and so forth.

4.
Space

Space is the distance between a form to another form, the practice of design elements can be used to give the effect of aesthetic design and graphic design dynamics. For example, without the space where you will not know which words and sentences or paragraphs. Without space you do not know where to look first, when to read and when to stop. In the form of physical identification of the space is classified into two elements, namely the object (figure) and the background (background).

5. Size
Size is another element in the design that defines the size of an object. By using these elements you can create contrast and emphasis (emphasis) on the object of your design so that people will know where to be seen or read first.
